Review: Europe

Hello third-graders!

Here you have a summary of European geography (that we worked in the 1st term through your posters) that will act as a basis for Units 4 and 5 of Social Sciences that we will start next week.

REVIEW: EUROPE

Europe is in the Northern Hemisphere. There are more than 40 countries in Europe. Russia is the biggest one. Most of the population lives in cities (Istanbul and Moscow are the most populated cities). Many languages are spoken in Europe (Spanish, French, English, German…)




Europe has different landscapes:

-          Plains
o   The Great European Plain
o   The Inner Plateau (in the Iberian Peninsula)
-          Mountains
o   South: Pyrenees, Alps, Carpathians, Balkans and Caucasus Mountains.
o   East: Ural Mountains
o   North: Scandinavian Mountains
-          Coasts
o   Peninsulas: Iberian Peninsula, Scandinavian Peninsula, Italian Peninsula and Balkan Peninsula.
o   Islands: Iceland, Ireland, Great Britain, Sardinia, Crete...
o   Gulfs: Bay of Biscay (Iberian Peninsula)
o   Capes: Norht Cape, Cape St. Vincent...
-          Rivers
o   Into the Arctic Ocean: Pechora river
o   Into the Atlantic Ocean: Rhine, Loire and Tajo
o   Into the Mediterranean Sea: Ebro and Rhône
o   Into the Black Sean and the Caspian Sea: Danube and Volga (the longest one).
-          Lakes
o   Big lakes: Lake Ladoga and Lake Onega (Russia).
o   Small lakes: Lake Constance
